Dance Program

We’re thrilled to announce that big changes are coming to our dance program! At Round Lake, we are committed to providing a welcoming and creative space for dancers of all ages and skill levels. We are proud to welcome Harper Shiring as the new Recreation Supervisor of Dance. With his extensive experience and passion for the art, Harper is leading an exciting transformation of our dance program. His plan for the coming year includes new class offerings, enrichment programs, easier registration with detailed class descriptions, and updated studio spaces—all designed to enhance the dance experience for our students and their families.

Our goal is to ensure that each dancer is placed in the perfect class, not just by age but by skill level and understanding of the style, so they can thrive and grow in their love for dance. With fresh, innovative programming and a focus on creating a supportive and inclusive environment, we’re ready to make the dance program unforgettable!

Classes for the 7-month Dance Program, which runs from November 2024 to May 2025, will be on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. For questions about classes or placement, please email Harper at Harper_Shiring@rlapd.org.

We look forward to moving with you!

At Round Lake Area Dance, we are committed to fostering a comprehensive understanding of movement, ensuring that each student is placed in the right class for their abilities to help them reach their full potential. Our program begins with Pre-Primary Ballet or Ballet & Tap Combo class for children as young as 3, providing an engaging introduction to these foundational dance styles. As dancers grow, they have the opportunity to progress through Modern and Jazz classes, further expanding their skill set and creativity.
Ultimately, students can advance to Ballet 3, our most advanced class for dancers aged 14 and up.

Our classes are labeled with numbers to easily indicate levels:

1 Beginner
2 Intermediate
3 Advanced

It’s common for some classes to be repeated, as we focus on ensuring each dancer is fully prepared before moving forward in their training. Please note that some classes may have prerequisites or age requirements to ensure the best fit and development for each student.

Dress Code for Studio of Dance

Dancers work harder and stay more focused when properly dressed for class. We know and appreciate the fact that dancewear is an investment; therefore, we offer a practical, long-lasting and reasonably priced online storefront at DiscountDance.com.

All students are required to follow the dress code, including wearing the proper clothing and footwear. Hair must be secured with no hair in the face (unless the teacher specifies differently). A teacher may assist with securing hair away from a student’s face if needed. Jeans and jewelry are not allowed. The dress code should be followed as it aids the teachers to observe body alignment without distraction. Our dress code is as follows:
